PFSYC to Freo

We went to Fremantle from PFSYC, the directed distance is 4.8 nm. Going on the Swan River, it is around 6nm. As you know, when I go to Fremantle from PFSYC, it would take only 30 mins by car. However, if it is by sailboat, it would spend around 2hours. In addition, the sailboat runs by the wind, the speed is around 5 knots normally. You might have a question that why it needs 2hours?
Because there are 2 bridges on the river and the sailboat need the mast down.

At 5 o’clock in the morning, we met at the club and prepared for departure.
(Put food into the boat, check engine and water and more) The sun was starting rising, we started going. (The sailing trip needs natural light as the sun to check obstacles on the water. Especially, Sea monkey doesn’t have any meters and radar.)

We did sailing a few miles, and then, starting the engine when the wind was against. When the boat is running, we did removing a boom and prepared for the mast down, and then, we relaxed and chatted until arriving at the buoy area.
Near the bridges, we found a good condition buoy and we moored it for doing the mast down.
(Last time, we got catch a boat hook and the buoy accidentally when we were mooring! I think you could not get what is funny with my English vocabulary… I just wrote for noted to self. )

Why did we need to leave early morning?
Firstly, we wanna go to the island in the early afternoon.
Secondly, we wanted to avoid passing other boats that make waves. We have to care to do mast down because it is on the water. When the wave comes, we need to stop doing.
(When we did it, dolphins come to us usually! I wanna take photos and watch them, but, I’m not arrowed because of doing mast down.)
If someone makes a mistake and the mast is down directly and quickly, it would be an awful accident that someone might get injured seriously.

By the way, I was surprised about the way of the mast down in Australia. When I was doing it the first time in Barcelona, Spain, they ordered a crane. Also, it spent all day. I thought the mast down was one of a big event in sailing life, however, in Australia, it is a general thing. Because the sailboats are in Australia built for the mast down usually.

Yay! We completed the mast down!
(Sorry, I didn’t take any photos when we are doing because I had a section.)
After that, we found a dolphin!!
They said ‘Have fun!’ to us!
